Corporate health example:
If a product goes to market, makes a million dollar revenue stream, yet causes health issues for 15% of the every-day people using the product, has the company succeeded?
Linear thinking says "Yes! We surpassed our monetary gains goals. It is not our problem that some people have a reaction to our product."
Integrative thinking says, "No. If there is a negative consequence attached, then we did not produce a solution. We produced another problem. What can we do to create a product to meet our financial objectives, investments, and create only positive impact in our customers lives?"
Work environment example:
If a boss gets people motivated through fear tactics, has that boss succeeded?
Linear thinking says, "Yes! Employees are doing their jobs. Bottom lines are met."
Integrative thinking says, "Not yet. People are miserable at their jobs. Turn-over is high and costing the company thousands in revenue. Also, the environment has taken a passive-aggressive turn. What can we do to motivate through positive means and create a culture of synergy?"
A BETTER WAY
